Registrar Forms & Services

The MCC Registrar's Office serves students, staff, faculty and the community by providing exceptional support and service in the following areas:

  • Processing and maintaining accurate, detailed and updated student records pertaining to credit courses
  • Processing of transcript requests and transcript evaluations
  • Providing academic enrollment verification information
  • Processing and confirming graduation applications

GED transcripts and diplomas must be sent to the appropriate department requesting them. The Registrar's Office does not retain GED credentials to forward to our Financial Aid Office if there is no indication of where they need to be sent to.

Students who need to present MCC academic credentials (diploma or transcripts) for use abroad must follow the steps below. All fees involved with authenticating academic records are paid by the student.

Step 1: Order a copy of a diploma and/or transcripts

Step 2: MCC Notarization

The diploma or official transcript is notarized by the MCC Registrar’s Office and mailed to you.

Step 3: State Authentication

Once diploma or official notarized transcripts are received, follow the steps outlined by the Nebraska Secretary of State to authenticate your documents. Once authenticated by the State, your diploma/transcript will be returned via mail.

You may request a Transcript Re-Evaluation (student login required) if you changed to another program of study or wish specific courses to be reviewed again.

International transcripts sent to MCC must first be evaluated and interpreted by any one of the current members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. A course-by-course evaluation must be requested from these organizations, and the official report must be sent directly to the MCC Registrar's Office. International transcripts will also be reviewed under MCC transcript evaluation guidelines and policies.

MCC credit is awarded for some general education courses to students who have an official transcript on file in the Registrar's Office, noting conferred bachelor’s, master’s, juris doctor, or doctoral degrees from a regionally, accredited American institution. Qualifying students will receive full credit for associate of applied science general education requirements.

Important: Some programs have specific requirements for general education courses. In such cases a transcript will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Consult your advisor to see which general education credits you may be eligible to receive.

Communication (GEN_COMM) 4.5 credit hrs.
Quantitative/Numeracy Skills (GEN_QUANT) 4.5 credit hrs.
Critical Thinking/Creativity & Social/Cultural Awareness (GEN_SOC) 4.5 credit hrs.

This process may be used by a student impacted by an unforeseen circumstance or life-altering event that has affected their ability to complete courses. A Record Appeal is not used to dispute grades, to voice instructor concerns, or to grant refunds and waive tuition and fees.

The Student Record Appeal must include:

  • A written statement from the student explaining the reason for the appeal. This statement must include the student's full name, MCC ID number and contact information.
  • Statement must contain the resolution the student is requesting.
  • Complete documentation to support the appeal request. Proof of documentation may include:
    • Medical documentation from a medical professional stating how your medical condition prevented you from successfully completing your courses. This letter must be on the medical facility's letterhead and include the title and phone number of the writer of the letter.
    • Obituary or funeral program.
    • Copy of airline ticket, if travel was required due to emergencies.
    • Official letters or other supporting documents on office letterhead, including the title and phone number of the professional writer of the letter. The letter needs to clearly state the reason why you were not able to successfully complete your courses.

Please include all information with this appeal. If supporting documents are not submitted, a decision will be rendered with the existing information provided.

The Appeal may be submitted via email to: studentrecordappeal@mccneb.edu or via mail to:

Metropolitan Community College
Attn: Registrar’s Office/Student Record Appeal
PO Box 3777
Omaha, NE 68103-0777

Military-Connected students must submit an appeal to the MCC Military and Veterans Services office or by calling 531-MCC-2330.

Appeal Guidelines

  • Personal hardships or failure to read College published documents generally do not present justifiable reasons to support an appeal.
  • Appeals are approved on a case-by-case basis.
  • An appeal for an issue that is more than a year old cannot be made.
  • It is the student's responsibility to demonstrate an unanticipated or unavoidable event, which was beyond the student's control, resulting in the student's inability to complete the quarter or withdraw from courses.
  • Appeals for late withdrawal or a "W" for a course, will ONLY be considered when the course withdrawal period has passed for the appealed course(s). Courses cannot be deleted from transcripts.
  • Appeal decisions will be made solely on supporting documentation provided.
  • Final decision of the appeal will be sent to the student via mail. It is the student's responsibility to keep all contact information current in the College system.
  • Appeals are processed in the order they are received and decisions are made within 4-6 weeks from the time of receipt.

If you have any questions concerning your Student Record Appeal, email:
studentrecordappeal@mccneb.edu. Please be aware that the decision of the Student Record Appeal Committee is final and submissions for a re-appeal will not be considered.

Some records housed in the College Archives, such as timecards, payroll records, purchase orders and student records, are considered confidential and will only be made available to College departments with the originating department's consent.
