Catch a ride with Pass to Class

Pass to Class is a partnership program between Metropolitan Community College and Metro Area Transit to encourage bus ridership and provide education access to eligible MCC students.

IMPORTANT: Metro Area Transit system routes are limited. Bus service does not travel to Elkhorn Valley Campus, Fremont Area Center of the Applied Technology Center.

Millions of free bus rides have been served as part of the MCC Pass to Class program for its students since 2009. Pass to Class was started so that MCC students could enjoy increased access to classes and locations, resulting in decreased parking need and traffic congestion. The program also provides relevant student travel pattern data, which Metro Area Transit uses to adjust routes and service. Pass to Class is also helping reduce single-occupancy vehicle trips and decrease emissions into the environment.

Each quarter eligible students who wish to be in the program must fill out the updated Pass to Class Form. There is a 24-hour waiting period after submitting the form before your Student ID card is activated for use.

A Student Services staff may direct you to the Learning and Tutoring Center where the majority of MCC Student ID cards are issued. You may also go online. Go to the MCC Photo ID Card website page for more information.

Remember, in order for your Student ID to work as a bus pass, you will need to fill out the Pass to Class eTrieve Form 24 hours prior to riding the bus.

Go to the nearest Learning and Tutoring Center and provide a valid government  photo ID and current MCC course schedule in order to be issued a replacement student ID card.  Students will not need to fill out an additional Pass to Class eTrieve Form.

Email passtoclass@mccneb.edu with the dates, times, and bus number (or route/stop ID) you have experienced a challenge with so that this information may be used to troubleshoot faulty bus equipment or Student ID card itself.

All Metro Area Transit rules and regulations must be followed by MCC Students. Failure to abide by may result in termination from the program. Pass to Class can be used at any time on any route, only by the student who was issued the pass. Access and availability in accordance with Metro Area Transit service routes.

  • Use of a pass by someone other than the enrolled student may result in termination from the program. Passes may not be transferred between individuals and will be deactivated upon voluntary or involuntary disenrollment from MCC classes.
  • Students will be responsible for showing their MCC Student ID card when entering the bus. Students who do not have their MCC Student ID will be denied service.

Metro Area Transit offers new riders information on how to plan a bus trip, read schedules, identifying the right bus, hailing a bus, boarding, standing, fareboxes, transferring and exiting. We recommend you inquire about your needed routes and make plans in advance to the start of classes. You can also can plan your route and track busses in real time through the MyRideOMA app.
