Fire Science Technology Admissions Process

  • Student must be at least 18 years of age – (NOTE: High School aged students under the age of 18 are welcome to enter the program and take lower level FIST courses; however, to continue with the live fire courses, FIST 1090 & FIST 2070, they must be 18 per State Statutes).
  • Signed validation form affirming student meets Technical Standards requirements for the program (give form to Advisor during appointment).
Note: Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee program acceptance.

  • Schedule an appointment with a Fire Science Academic Advisor to discuss career path and course preparation
  • Submit the online MCC Apply Now application (if not a previous MCC student)
  • Request to have official transcript/s from post-secondary schools sent to MCC Registrar’s Office for review (if applicable); transfer courses must be a 2.0 minimum GPA to be accepted. (Transcript reviews may take 4-6 weeks)
  • A physical examination is required. Students may download the physical form and obtain a physical from their provider at their cost, or undergo a physical with the program medical director for no expense on the first day of class. Forms will be due first day of class if done off campus.
