Nebraska residents can earn an associate degree from MCC in as little as two years, for less than half the cost of a state university. In fact, MCC has the lowest tuition of any public college in Nebraska. Talk about a good investment.

The College tuition rate is subject to change without prior notice by and at the discretion of the Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors.

Students may, however, contact Enrollment Services with regard to questions concerning his/her residency classification.

Nebraska Residents - A student qualifies to register for resident tuition rates at Metropolitan Community College if they are not an international student or dependent with an F status and meets one of the following criteria:

  • Has a Nebraska mailing address (PO Box not acceptable).
  • Is a minor whose parents or legal guardian have a Nebraska mailing address (PO Box not acceptable).
  • Is married to a spouse who has a Nebraska mailing address (PO Box not acceptable).
  • Has attended or graduated from a Nebraska secondary school during the school year immediately prior to registration at MCC.
  • Are an active duty military person or veteran verified by the Military Veteran Services Office.
  • Are the spouse or dependent of an active duty military person or veteran and other individuals in receipt of VA educational benefits verified by the Military Veteran Services Office.
  • Non-Nebraska Residents — An individual who does not qualify for the resident tuition rate is considered a non-resident and his/her assessed tuition is according to the non-resident schedule.

Under the Nebraska Law Enforcement Education Act, sworn officers may be eligible for a waiver of 100% of their resident tuition charges for pursuing an associate or baccalaureate degree that relates to a career in law enforcement. This waiver is available to officers for up to five years. To qualify, an officer must maintain satisfactory job performance, meet all admission requirements of the post-secondary institution and pursue studies leading to a degree that relates to a career in law enforcement.

Individuals must maintain satisfactory performance with their law enforcement agency or fire department (a new Certificate of Verification of satisfactory performance is required each academic year) as well as:

  • Meeting any and all admission requirements of the state university, state college, or community college.
  • Pursuing studies leading to a degree that relates to a career in law enforcement or a professional firefighter from an associate or undergraduate degree program.

Eligible dependent students applying for this tuition waiver must:

  • Be pursuing an associate or undergraduate degree, - Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy standards.
  • Be legal dependent, defined as any person that meets the definition of a "dependent student" as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, and who has at least one parent or legal guardian that qualifies as a law enforcement officer or professional firefighter in the State of Nebraska (must be a parent on the FAFSA).

MCC shall waive one hundred percent of the tuition remaining balance due after subtracting awarded federal financial aid grants and state scholarships and grants for an eligible law enforcement officer during the time student is enrolled. To remain eligible, the law enforcement officer, firefighter, or firefighter-paramedic and their dependent(s) must comply with all requirements of the institution for continued attendance and award of an associate degree.

The MCC refund policy is a full refund until 2/11th of the course sections have met. Students also will not receive a withdraw (W) on their transcript through this time period. After 2/11th of the sections have met, no refund will be given and a withdraw (W) from the course will be reflected on their transcript.
