The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is your application to the U.S. Department of Education for federal financial aid programs, including the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Work-Study, or Federal Direct Subsidized and Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans. The FAFSA must be applied to annually at StudentAid.gov.
- The 2024-25 FAFSA applies toward the academic year between September 2024 to August 2025. It is available from December 31, 2023 to June 30, 2025.
- The 2025-26 FAFSA applies toward the academic year between September 2025 to August 2026. It will be available from October 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026.

To complete the FAFSA:
- Create an account to establish your FSA ID username and password.
- Complete and submit the FAFSA application by the deadline.
- Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) at StudentAid.gov to see your results.
- Follow up with the Financial Aid Office if you need to complete FAFSA verification.
NOTE: Financial Aid offer letters are sent once a financial aid file is complete.
Priority deadlines are the suggested dates to submit your FAFSA application to ensure your aid is processed before the academic quarter starts. FAFSA applications submitted after priority deadlines shown, will be processed but could result in delays of your financial aid offer and disbursement of aid.
- Fall quarter: July 1
- Winter quarter: Oct. 1
- Spring quarter: Jan. 1
- Summer quarter: March 1

Having difficulties completing your FAFSA? Assistance is available to current and prospective students. Get help in a variety of ways:
- One-On-One FAFSA Assistance — Schedule an online or in-person FAFSA assistance appointment or contact the MCC Financial Aid office at 531-MCC-2330.
- FAFSA Assistance Workshops — FAFSA group workshops are available to community partners who interact with potential or former students and special MCC groups.
Please bring the following items to your appointment workshop:
- Valid government issued photo identification
- Social Security card
- Tax Filers — Previous tax year IRS tax return transcript or 1040 form and W2 forms (if student and/or parent filed taxes)
- Non Tax Filers — Previous IRS W2 transcripts or forms (if student and/or parent worked)
- Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID (username and password)
- If you are claimed as a dependent, you will need a FSA ID to electronically sign the FAFSA.
- You may create a FSA ID at studentaid.gov/fsa-id.
- A student's spouse may also need a FSA ID if a joint tax return was not filed.
