About TRIO
MCC is committed to providing educational opportunities for all regardless of race, ethnic background or economic circumstance. In support of this commitment and as a recipient of federal Title IV funding (Higher Education Act of 1965), MCC is one of more than 1,000 institutions and agencies offering TRIO programs in America.
While financial aid programs help students overcome funding barriers, TRIO programs help students overcome class, social and cultural barriers to higher education.
TRIO programs at MCC include:
- Student Support Services (SSS) - helps low-income and first-generation students develop the skills and motivation necessary to earn a bachelor’s degree. SSS offers comprehensive student support, including academic advising, financial aid counseling, academic skills workshops, plus leadership and cultural activities.
- Single Parent/Homemaker Services - a subset of SSS dedicated to supporting pregnant individuals, single parents and homemakers.
- Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) - a subset of SSS dedicated to serving the unique support needs of low-income veterans and members of reserve components of the US Armed Forces.
