Honor Societies

Kappa Beta Delta and Phi Theta Kappa

MCC is home to two international honor societies -- Kappa Beta Delta and Phi Theta Kappa. These organizations encourage and recognize scholarship and academic accomplishments, while promoting personal and professional development. Both societies are active and have a variety of engagement opportunities for students.

Colleges that are member institutions of Kappa Beta Delta (KBD) are accredited through the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). This Council was formed in 1988 as an accrediting body for business programs, and its Associate Degree Commission established standards in 1991 for accrediting programs at two-year institutions. Since its founding in June 1997, KBD has been affiliated with ACBSP, and KBD membership is available exclusively to students enrolled at ACBSP accredited schools like Metropolitan Community College.

The MCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter is also known as Beta Pi Beta. MCC recognizes PTK as an official honors society with membership offering access to a vast amount of resources, including scholarships, academic, transfer and career support. PTK also allows you to connect with fellow MCC students. Established in 1918, PTK has a presence on almost 1,300 community college campuses in 11 countries worldwide. By joining PTK, you are joining an international network of success.
