Making an Appointment

You can schedule an advising appointment online or by calling the MCC Contact Center at 531-MCC-5231. Appointment times may be restricted during the two weeks prior to the start of a quarter.

Think about what you want to accomplish at your meeting. Write down your questions and make sure to:

  • Familiarize yourself with available degrees and certificates and our programs of study.
  • Save important information and worksheets, if applicable.
  • Share your academic background with your advisor.
  • Remember that your advisor is your partner.

Common advising appointment activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Educational Planning
  • Financial Aid Appeals
  • Reviewing degree requirements
  • Checking progress toward graduation
  • Course substitutions
  • Discussing major or other goals
  • Developing a transfer plan
  • Reviewing college policies and procedures
  • Calculating your grade point average (GPA)
  • Academic Standing
  • Career Advising

  • Your MCC student username and password
  • ACT Scores
  • Accuplacer Scores
  • High School Transcripts
  • Transcripts from previous institutions attended

*If you are a new student planning to register for courses, please complete the online application before coming to your appointment.

Examples of issues appropriate for drop-in assistance include:

  • Concern about a current class
  • Quick questions about academic requirements
  • Review of class schedule, but not long-term planning
  • Campus/Resource referrals
  • General withdrawal assistance
  • College academic policies
