Accessibility Notice

Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is committed to making electronic technologies fully accessible on all campuses to people with disabilities. The College is continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards and practices.

MCC takes the following measures to establish a culture supporting accessibility:

  • Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.
  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.
  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.
  • Assign clear accessibility targets and responsibilities.
  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.
  • Include people with disabilities in our audience segments.

For College events, whether in-person, or hosted online, please reach out to the Office of Disability Support Services at least two weeks in advance of the event to arrange for professional captioning or sign language interpretation. If events are recorded and made available online for viewing afterward, any recordings should include accurate captions.

LIMITATIONS AND ALTERNATIVES REGARDING SPOKEN CONTENT AT IN-PERSON OR ONLINE-HOSTED COLLEGE EVENTS
  • Auto-generated captioning will be set as the default, but certain video content forming part of an online-hosted event may not be hard captioned due to provider limitations.
  • The College will make every effort to secure sign language interpretation for in-person events and live captioning for online-hosted events when requested at least two weeks in advance of the event by contacting the Office of Disability Support Services.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for web designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. These guidelines establish three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA. MCC is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Accessibility of the MCC website relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and assistive technologies or plug-ins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • ASPX

We rely on these technologies for conformance with the aforementioned accessibility standards.

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of content within the MCC website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions.

  • Our website may not be able to ensure instant accessibility of user-generated content or comments.
  • Uploaded documents may not meet accessibility standards, as we cannot guarantee the quality of contributions.
  • Issues are typically addressed within two business days. Please report website issues or concerns if you encounter an issue.

MCC runs a continuous assessment of the accessibility of its website through external evaluation.

We welcome your feedback regarding accessibility at MCC. Please let us know if you encounter accessibility barriers on our site or at any of our locations:
